How to Apply an Offsetting Credit Memo
to an Open Invoice
1. Choose Payments from the Receivable module.
2. Select the customer ID.
3. Choose either Cash or Check. Note that selecting Check allows for a reference number to be entered under check number if you wish.
4. Enter Payment Amount of $0.00.
5. Enter optional reference number.
6. Double click on the Credit Memo to pay. (The Credit Memo must be selected First!)
7. Double click on the Invoice to pay.
8. Post the payment.
9. Click on the Exit button. (It is not necessary to print a Deposit Worksheet)
10. Go to General Ledger and process the Journal Entries.
11. You can use the Receivables Query function or run an ARJNLAG report to verify that the Credit Memo was applied correctly.
