Using WinZip to Create
and Extract .zip Files
At times,
you may be asked by a CDCI support analyst to send in your Basic Builder
files. These files will always be
bundled into a compressed file called a zip
file. WinZip is a program that can help
you easily create and extract zip files.
The program is a free download, but you will need to register the
program after 21 days if you continue to use it.
Obtaining the WinZip Program
If you don’t already have a copy of WinZip
loaded on your computer, the following instructions
will walk you through how to download an
evaluation copy from the Internet.
If you already have WinZip, click here for instructions on how to use WinZip to
handle zip files.
1) Download WinZip by going to http://www.winzip.com. Click on the middle left area of the screen that says Download Evaluation Version.
2) On the following page, click on the area that says Download WinZip 8.1 SR-1 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000 from a WinZip download server. (The download should begin automatically. If it does not, start the download manually by following the directions you now see on the screen.)
3) When asked what you would like to do with this file, select the default, Save this program to disk. Then click OK.
The program will prompt you to save the files in a folder on your
computer.
4) Locate and highlight your desktop in the Save In drop down list that appears in the Save As window. Next, click on Save to start the download process. When WinZip is done downloading, you should see the message Download Complete. Click Close if the window does not close automatically.
